Rava Pongal / ரவைப் பொங்கல்

rava/ sooji - 100gm
moong dal - 50 gm
oil - 1tbsp
ghee - 1 or 2 tbsp
pepper & cumin - each 1 tsp
chopped ginger - 2 tsp
cashews - 10
green chilli - 1 (optional)
curry leaves - few
asafoetida - pinch
salt- to taste.

Serves - 2 -3.
Steps to follow:
 Keep the ingredients ready.
Soak and pressure cook the moong with 1 and half cup water for 3 whistles.
 Heat ghee and oil ( 1+1 -tbsp),add whole pepper and jeera, chopped ginger, curry leaves,cashews.Saute well.Add pinch of asafoetida.stir again.
 Then add the rava.
 Roast well.

 Add 3 times of water of rava. Stir till rava cooks and absorbs water.
 Add cooked dal with half cup water & salt to taste.
 Add another half cup hot water,if needed .
 Stir well. Again add  1tbsp ghee. Mix well.

 Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

I love pongal with anything! :) hahaha, I mean normal pongal, oats pongal, barley pongal, rava pongal? What not..pongal-sambar-coconut chutney is the best breakfast to me!
